Joyroom JR-D121c Power Bank review | ishopiuseireview.com

The 1st impression of the Joyroom D121 Powerbank is that it is very well packaged and looks pretty stylish. The powerbank itself feels solid and the design is simple in an attractive way. It doesn't look or feel cheap.

I did a rough measurement of the powerbank (with ruler since I don't have the tools), the dimension is: ~14.2x7x1.2cm.

The LED display (showing not only the percentage left but also the output/input voltage) is very well done and gave the powerbank a cool and "futuristic" feel to it. I've tested the torchlight function and it turned out to be pretty bright.

HOWEVER, there is one thing I've problem with the product description. I did a little "experiment" on my own and realised that the powerbank is not able to charge my iPhone 6 Plus 3 times as mentioned (in the product description).

I do thing there could be a few possibility that affects the "fairness" of my experiment:

1) My iPhone is jailbroken, meaning it'll consume more battery.
2) I did have some level of usage during the charging period.
3) Bigger screen = more battery consumption

But anyway, I'm going to share what I observe.

I started charging my phone at around 16:00, from 9%. The Powerbank is at 89% then.

Basically, I don't think the Joyroom JR-D121 could charge my iPhone 6 Plus fully for 3 times. 2 times, maybe.

Finally, I'll go to the Pros and Cons.

Pros:
Stylish
Lightweight
Digital LED
"Easygoing" as in it can accept most cables I use with it.

Cons:
Long recharging hours (up to 7 hours)

Remax RM-305M Earphone Review

Specifications:
32 ohm
PU Composite Diaphragm
Aluminum Alloy
Abrasive Blasting
Three Key Volume Control and Microphone
Braided Wire and TPE Wire
120mm Cable Length
3.5mm Plug
Comes with a stylish carrying pouch.

The reason I get this pair is because I'm attracted to the design and I am also trying to find out if semi-in-ear (on-ear) or in-ear will fit me better. This pair cost a little more than the RM610D, I got it for about SGD16.

The packaging is very presentable and the unboxing is fun. I really have to applaud Remax for making very presentable (and gift-able) packaging and earphones for such a low price. However, I've a problem with the way the wire is packed - the wire is "packed" in a way that there is a bend on the TPE wire.

The earphones are very beautiful and the texture feels very good. The aluminum alloy exterior feels really solid and very stylish. I also really like the combination of braided and TPE wire. (Braided from the plug to the Y-joint and TPE one the left and right wires.)

Remax RM305M review | ishopiuseireview.com

Side: (I recently found a song that is a mixture of musical/classical with a little of pop and I find it a good song to test with. It's call Hu tao jia zi (胡桃夹子) by Diamond Zhang Bi Chen (张碧晨)) So, yes, I tested these with this song and plan to test future earphones with it as well.

Now, I will go straight to the Pros and Cons of the Remax RM305M.

Pros:

- Reasonably wide soundstage (but not as great as the RM610D).

- Great bass, energetic and punchy.
- Volume control works really well with iPhone.
- Mids and highs are pretty clear and not overpowering.

- Extremely good microphone, sound very good on the singing app.
(Voice sounds clear and unlike the RM610D, doesn't becomes dull of flat with high notes or loudness.) The best earphone microphone I've even sang on!

Cons:

- Noise cancellation is decent but not great.

- Not for prolong listening, my ear hurts after few hours of listening. (even with the sponge covering)

- Not flat (noodle) cable - Tangles a lot more than the RM610D.

- Durability is a problem.

The right side loosen after just about a month of use and it no longer have sound. I was pretty disappointed with it because I really love it as a microphone for singing app.

Overall score: 3/5 Microphone: 4.5/5

It could be I am unlucky and got a defective pair, but anyway this is my experience with the Remax Rm-305M earphones.

Remax RM-610D Earphone Review

Remax RM610D is a pair that I am currently using now. I got it at about SGD12.
I really love the build of the earpiece and the sound is very good also.

To be honest, it just went way pass my expectation of a earpiece under SGD20!
It of course isn't as fantastic when compared to the Sennheiser MM30i, but is very good for its price and came really close to the sound quality of the MM30i.

I tried this on my iPhone 6 Plus with the same song list as the previous review and of course with new songs by my favourite singers (mainly from the Cpop scene).

Unit size: 10mm(moving-coil speaker)

Working power: 100mw
The headset pin: 3.5mm(plating)

Acuity: 95+3db
Wire length: 120cm

I guess I'll go straight to the pros and cons to save time.

Pros:

 - Good and pretty wide soundstage.

- Attractive design (that comes with 4 colours), solid build.

 - Volume and music control that works very well with iPhone.

 - Flat cable makes it tangle-free.

 - Bass are energetic and punchy with a few exception like Namewee's 漂向北方(Piao Xiang Bei Fang) which lower range got slightly fuzzy. Bass is not where it shines but it is still very decent.

 - Mid is good. Even though I personally find female voice sounds a little better than male, just a little.

 - Highs are clear and not overpowering.

 - Accessories (Comes with a pouch and 2 sets of replacement eartips)

Cons:

 - Noise cancellation can be better and fit can be better. Note that I use my own earbuds for better fit.

 - Mic is not as good as the RM305M when use on singing app.
(Mic gets a little muffled and flat at higher range or loudness)

Overall score: 4/5 Microphone: 3/5

Sennheiser MM30i Earphone Review

Note:This is more of a personal experience and not professional review, in fact this review wouldn't cover much of technical details.

This pair cost me about SG$55 when I get it from Qoo10, a local shopping site.

I was actually leaning towards the a-Jays Three (or Four) when I was looking around for a pair to replace my original Apple one. But somehow, when I landed on the online shopping site, this baby was on promotion, it was over 60 (back then) and it's about 55 plus shipping after the discount.

So I went and researched on Sennheiser (as a brand) and the MM30i as well. The reviews were mostly positive, with some exceptions who compared it to earpiece twice its price.

My personal experience with the pair (from my memory, since I lost it quite some time ago) is that it is much clearer than the Apple pair I own.

I am a huge Hebe Tien fan, so I mainly try the earpiece on her songs (mainly, "My Love", "Love", "無事生非 (Make Trouble Out of Nothing)" and "超級瑪麗 (Super Marie)") and on the few Kpop songs I've in my list (Shinee's Lucifer, Super Junior Sorry Sorry and 2NE1 Lonely Acoustic Version) I also tried it with a few Jay Chou's rap songs.

I can hear much more details, especially on the guitar and piano. The bass is though not totally punchy but is rather reasonable while the voice (vocal) is rather clear. Overall, the listening experience is much more energetic compared to the Apple pair.

Pros:
Good sound, balanced and sounds good on most genre I listen to.
Durable (I've it in the washing machine twice and it stayed strong for 3 months before I lost it)
Work very well with the iPhone (Volume and music control)
Comfortable even after long hours of listening (comes with 3 sets of eartips, so you can find the right size for your ear)

Cons:
Microphone is a little soft for singing, but clear when talking on the phone.
Bass can be slightly better.
Design can be a little better.
Controls are a little stiff (hard to press)

Mic score (for singing app): 3.5/5.

Overall, this is my favourite earpiece for listening to music on. Sennheiser will always be a brand I look out for when it comes to earpieces, but I'll wait for promotion before buying. LOL.

Introduction

Hi, this is Hiby!

I actually started this blog to write about budget earphones. I tend to misplace/damage my earphones because I'm a rough user, sometimes I left my earphones in my pocket and dumped it into the washing machine. (Don't worry, 9.5/10 of them survived the wash and came out more shining than before ...)

I do have some more "mid-range" (a Sennheiser MM30i, about SG$55) pair but after losing it, I went into a state of depression (just kidding) and was pretty convinced that maybe I shouldn't buy something so expensive ever again, because the chance of losing it again is high.

So I started a "journey" to get more budget earphones, something below SG$30 that doesn't irritate my ears or make them bleed. I've tried many pairs - SoundMagic E10C, Remax Rm-610D, RM-305M, 1More 1M301... etc and I'll be sharing my experience about them with you guys. But do take note that I'm no professional or sound engineer with great knowledge, I'm just sharing my experience.

However, earphones are not the only things that I seek for cheaper alternatives.

I tend to turn to Chinese/underdog brands for other stuffs too.So basically, this blog is about "budget/cheaper alternatives" and probably where to get them (either online like Taobao, Qoo10, Aliexpress blah).

And of course, some Side topics whereby I rant about life... LOL
